Street Cats of Zheshida Old Neighborhood

Fishbone Harry is always waiting at the trash cans on the east side of the neighborhood. He is braver than most of the cats and has a surprisingly strong voice. Fishbone Harry prefers beef over chicken. Fishbones picked clean by the cats stick to his sides like velcro. He needs a bath and has drool issues. Also, he may or may not be female.

Pushy Susan is the bravest of the neighborhood felines. She is also one of the fastest and most intelligent. When I throw food to another cat she runs for that cat’s first and then goes back to her own. She can follow my finger when I point out a missed piece and often anticipates who I will feed next. Sometimes, when she sees me walking down the block she runs towards me screaming. This makes me nervous. Chinese diners use Lazy Susans for eating big meals so the name Susan is on my mind around food. We had to change “lazy” to “pushy” because she is so bossy. Many of the other cats don’t stand a chance when Pushy Susan is around but Fishbone Harry can fend for himself.
